Plas Cerrig Fort
Possible Roman Fort
This suspected fort site, recorded as faint cropmarks in the fields immediately to the east of Plas Cerrig near Llan-y-Mynech, has been suggested as a possible contender for the Mediolanum recorded in Iter II of Ptolemy’s Geography, but the association is tenuous to say the least. The site is located at the summit of a low ridge suitable for a Roman military installation but there are no topographical features visible at the surface and no pottery or other artefacts have been uncovered during ploughing.
