West Woodburn Camp
Marching or Temporary Camp
West Woodburn Camp is a large squarish camp lies just ¾ mile NE of the Risingham fort, on a spur of land surrounded to N, E & S by a bend of the River Rede. Only the N & E sides are completely known, the SW part of the camp being totally ploughed-out, but the NW and SE corner-angles survive and from these the original size of the camp may be extrapolated. Two gates are recorded, set centrally in the N & E sides, and defended by external tituli.
