Shurnock Temporary Camp

Marching or Temporary Camps

This small, irregular camp lies on the edge of a wooded scarp overlooking the crossing of the Brandon Brook by the Salt Way, the Roman road between Droitwich and Alcester, about 5 miles to the west of the latter town. The scarp itself possibly formed the northern defences of the Camp. Both the east and west sides of the camp do not reach the scarp’s edge, where gateways were possibly situated. Another gateway lies in the middle of the east side.
