Ospringe (Durolevum?)
Minor Settlement
Roman settlement identified in Syndale Valley. It was occupied from the 2nd-4th century. Finds recovered included coins, pottery, oyster shells and an inhumation. This has been interpreted as the possible site of Durolevum.
There are substantial Roman buildings to the north-west of the settlement nearby at Ospringe (TQ9961) and Luddenham (TQ9862). There is a villa a little to the east at Faversham (TR0261) and an iron-mine at Brenley Corner (TR0459) a couple of miles further along Watling Street.
