Military Diplomata – 103AD (RIB 1401.1)

This document names four cavalry alae and eleven infantry (cohortes peditatae) and part-mounted (cohortes equitatae) regiments, in the army of the propraetor Lucius Neratius Marcellus:

For Imperator Caesar Nerva Trajanus Augustus Germanicus Dacicus, High Priest, holding tribunician power for the seventh time, hailed Imperator three times, consul five times. To the cavalry and infantry soldiers who saw military service in the four cavalry alae and eleven infantry cohortes who are named

which are in Britain under Lucius Neratius Marcellus. For those who have served twenty-five or more years and received an honourable discharge, and whose names are written below. To them and to their children for posterity has been granted the citizenship. Also lawful marriage to their wives they have at that time they are assigned the citizenship, or, if they were unmarried, with those whom they later marry, provided that it be only one woman for one man.
Dated fourteen days before the calends of February when Mamercus Laberius Maximus – for the second time – and Quintus Glitius Agricola – also for the second time – were consuls (19th January 103AD).
From the First Wing of Tampian Pannonians, commanded by Gaius Valerius Celsus, to the decurion Reburrus, the son of Severus the Spaniard.
Copied and checked against the tablet of bronze which is set up in Rome on the wall behind the temple of the Divine Augustus next to that of Minerva.
