Abbotsbury Hill Fort
Iron Age Hillfort
This small, triangular fort has a double bank with a median ditch enclosing an area of 2ha. The perimeter was augmented by extra defences on the west and the south-east. The interior of the fort housed around nine circular huts and a 12m diameter round barrow, which was located just inside the southern defences.
The south-western defenses were later partly overlaid by a small, square earthwork with a surrounding ditch which may be the foundations of an early-Roman signal station.
