Bulwarks Camp
Iron Age Hillfort
The monument consists of the remains of a defended enclosure, believed to originate from the Iron Age period (circa 800 BC to AD 43). It is situated atop Hardwick Cliffs, commanding a vantage point overlooking the River Wye to the east, with natural defences provided by the deep ravine to the south. On the west and northwest sides, artificial defences were constructed, consisting of multiple ramparts, with the innermost being the most substantial. Despite being well preserved within woodland, the interior of the monument is flat and currently utilized as a playing field and playground.
